Miscanthus sinensis ‘Cosmopolitan’ – Variegated Maiden Grass

Miscanthus sinensis ‘Cosmopolitan’ is a spectacular ornamental grass forming large, graceful fountains of arching green foliage boldly margined with creamy-white. The broad variegation gives the plant a bright, elegant appearance throughout the growing season, making it a standout feature in the border even before flowering begins.

In late summer and autumn, tall stems rise above the foliage carrying soft pink-bronze flower plumes that gradually mature to silvery-white. As autumn progresses, the foliage often develops subtle golden tones, extending the season of interest well into winter.

Larger and more imposing than many variegated grasses, ‘Cosmopolitan’ makes an excellent specimen plant and combines beautifully with late-flowering perennials such as asters, heleniums, veronicastrums, and persicarias.
