Plant now to enjoy delicate, feathery flower heads from June to August, with peak flowering generally occurring during July.

Stipa tenuissima is a compact, fine-textured ornamental grass forming soft tufts of thread-like green foliage topped by masses of silky, feathery flower heads. The delicate plumes emerge pale green and gradually mature to a warm buff-golden colour, creating beautiful movement in even the slightest breeze.

Drought tolerant once established and requiring very little maintenance, it is an excellent choice for gravel gardens, sunny borders, prairie-style planting and containers. The airy flower heads remain attractive as they mature, while its relatively compact size makes it particularly useful for the front of borders.

Pairs well with other sun-loving perennials
