Persicaria atrosanguinea is a bold, late-season perennial producing dense spikes of deep crimson-red flowers from mid-summer into autumn. The upright flower spikes rise above fresh green foliage, creating strong vertical colour that carries the border through the latter part of the growing season.

Vigorous yet elegant in effect, this reliable plant works particularly well in mixed borders and naturalistic planting, where its rich flower colour contrasts beautifully with ornamental grasses and softer perennials. Easy to grow and generous in flower, it also provides excellent late nectar for pollinators.  Pairs well with other sun-loving perennials
