Gaura lindheimeri is a graceful, airy perennial producing masses of delicate white flowers held on slender, arching stems that appear to dance above the foliage. The butterfly-like blooms open from late spring through to autumn, creating a long-lasting display of movement and lightness in the border.
A superb choice for naturalistic and prairie-style planting, gaura thrives in sunny, well-drained positions where its relaxed habit can be appreciated. It is a relatively short-lived perennial, but this is often balanced by its ability to self-seed freely, allowing new plants to appear naturally around the garden and creating a charming, informal drift of colour over time.
Its long flowering season and drought tolerance once established make it especially valuable for low-maintenance gardens, while the flowers provide a useful nectar source for bees and other pollinators.
