Veronica ‘Ionian Skies’ – sky blue speedwell

Veronica ‘Ionian Skies’, commonly known as Austrian or Hungarian Speedwell, forms a neat, compact (30 cm) mound of fresh green foliage, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, walls, edging paths, or the front of perennial borders. In early summer, it produces attractive spikes of soft china-blue flowers that provide a long-lasting display and are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.

Its naturally tidy, low-growing habit makes it easy to combine with other perennials and alpine plants. After flowering, the stems can be lightly trimmed to encourage a dense, compact mound of fresh foliage and, in favourable conditions, a second flush of blooms. Established clumps are easily divided in spring or early autumn to maintain vigour and increase your stock.
