• Plant now to enjoy elegant, feathery flower plumes from May to August, with peak flowering generally occurring during June and July.
Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ is a tall, upright ornamental grass forming strong, narrow clumps of fresh green foliage. Its feathery flower plumes emerge in early summer, initially with a subtle green or bronze tint before maturing to warm buff, creating a striking vertical accent in the garden.
Highly architectural and dependable, this low-maintenance perennial grass is ideal for the back of borders, prairie planting, screening, and contemporary gardens. Its strong upright stems remain attractive through autumn and winter, providing excellent structure and movement long after the flowers have faded. It is also RHS Award of Garden Merit rated for its outstanding garden performance.
