One of the hardiest pennisetum, and always gives superb winter show, cut back in feb. for next seasons growth. This can be split-up at most times of the year and it takes very easily to most soil conditions. It gets its name from the changing colour of the flower heads, starting off as reddish buds and opening to a much darker almost black bottlebrush. An exquisite grass. Usually grows to 3 to 4 feet.
