A Passion for Perennials

I run the nursery completely on my own and have done so (would you believe) since 1983 !!      The nursery has evolved from a polytunnel growing herbs, to outdoor cut flowers  (chrysanths, pinks) to bedding , hanging baskets and then to perennials.

Now ,  I only grow some select perennial varieties that I know perform well for me.

All plants are sold by mail-order. Shipping is £4.99 for any number of plants ordered together (Royal Mail Tracked 24 Next day delivery ).

The Beauty of Perennials: Why They Belong in Every Garden

If you’re looking to create a garden that’s both stunning and sustainable, perennials are the way to go. At PetersPlants Nursery, we specialize in hardy, reliable plants that return year after year, bringing beauty and structure to your outdoor space. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, perennials offer an effortless way to enjoy continuous blooms with minimal upkeep.

The Perennial Advantage

Perennials are a fantastic investment for any garden. Unlike annuals that need replanting every year, perennials establish themselves over time, growing stronger and more abundant with each season. They provide:

  • Longevity: Once established, they come back every year, often spreading naturally.
  • Low Maintenance: Many varieties require minimal care beyond occasional pruning or dividing.
  • Wildlife Benefits: Pollinators like bees and butterflies thrive on perennial blooms.
  • Seasonal Interest: With careful selection, you can enjoy flowers from early spring through late autumn.

Growing Perennials Successfully

To ensure your perennials thrive, keep these tips in mind:

  • Choose the Right Spot: Some perennials love full sun, while others prefer shade. Always check the plant’s needs before planting.
  • Prepare the Soil: Enrich your soil with compost to provide nutrients and improve drainage.
  • Water Wisely: While many perennials are drought-tolerant once established, regular watering helps young plants settle in.
  • Divide and Conquer: Every few years, divide overcrowded clumps to encourage healthy growth and more blooms.

Create a Thriving Perennial Garden

By incorporating perennials into your garden, you’re setting the stage for a landscape that flourishes year after year. Whether you’re looking for structural plants, ground cover, or vibrant floral displays, there’s a perennial for every garden style.
